18U Premier Spring Training in Arizona

Since the start of FCA Baseball in 2010, our 18s have made an annual trip to Arizona to conduct our own version of Spring Training.  The camp is led by 18U coach and ex-professional MLB player Jeff Culpepper, who runs the camp similar to his training days with the Chicago Cubs.

Our goal is to get our players in mid-season form prior to high school tryouts in March.  Each day starts with Kangaroo Court in the clubhouse, a review of the day’s practice plan, and then we head out to play on impeccably manicured major league fields in sunny and warm weather.  We break for lunch and dinner, and finish the evening up with batting competitions under the lights.  The days are filled with pitcher fielding practice, infield/outfield defensive drills and repetitions, batting practice and inter-squad games.  We also schedule a double-header with the University of Arizona club team.

This is clearly a unique experience for our players and requires countless hours of planning, preparation and dedication from our coaching staff.  Ask any FCA alumni about Spring Training and they will tell you it’s their #1 highlight playing for FCA!
