Washington FCA Baseball is an organization formed under the non-profit charter of The Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) which was established in 1954. You may not have heard of FCA before, but there are many well-known leaders in the world of sports that believe that athletics and faith provide the strength, integrity, service, teamwork and excellence that serve as pillars for our players as they grow to young adults. These people include:

  • Tony Dungy: Head Coach of the Indianapolis Colts, Superbowl Champions
  • Drew Brees: Quarterback for the New Orleans Saints, Superbowl Champions
  • Tim Tebow: 2007 Heisman Trophy winner and quarterback for the Denver Broncos

Their life experience in the world of sports, on and off the field, speaks volumes.

We seek to grow and develop our FCA baseball program based upon the following principles:

High Quality Baseball

Our teams are based on a competitive selection process and we choose our players based upon talent, aggressiveness, maturity, dedication and the belief that they are part of something larger than themselves. Ideally, it’s our goal to see our players progress and develop within our program from 12u through High School.

Training

We have chosen to train our players at Rijo Athletics, a well-known and established baseball training facility based in Snohomish, WA. Founded in 1999 by NY Met Jose Rijo, Rijo Athletics has a coaching staff of 9 with professional and collegiate baseball experience. Our selection was based upon their track record, year round facilities and personalized training for our athletes. We emphasize both off-season strength training as well as year-round skills based training.

Integrity

We believe that our actions on and off the field transcend baseball. We strive to integrate Character, Ethics and Christian behavior into the daily lives of our players and coaches. We believe that athletics without integrity, loyalty and trust is a hollow victory.

Teamwork

Our teams are not simply a collection of individuals. We spend time with our players off the field. Players develop deep friendships. We keep these teams together and stay together for years. The selflessness, loyalty and trust within these teams over the course of many years of working together is not easily duplicated.

Excellence

Throughout the 10-months of our baseball year, personal excellence is expected at home, school, practice and games. We work with our players and parents to support not only the development of baseball skills but life skills with our athletes on their journey to adulthood. We also expect excellence and role model behavior from our coaches.
