Club Letter — November 2011

Welcome returning and new FCA Players and families.  This is the first of many newsletters that you’ll receive during the year in our attempt to keep everyone connected with what’s going on within the Club.

As you may know, we have six teams with over 80 Players spanning the 13U to 18U age brackets.  FCA Baseball has an outstanding track record of strong performance with last year’s 14U and 18U teams placing in the top 5 teams in the state with a very high percentage of our 18U Players continuing to play in college.  While we’re proud of our past, we are even more excited about our future of which all of you are a part.

We intend to strengthen our Club substantially this year and would like to tell you about a few important initiatives.  First, Darran Littlefield (18U GM from 2009-2011) will be leading a team to further strengthen our coaching staff on and off the field ensuring coaching excellence and consistency throughout the Club.  Second, each of our teams will be giving back to the community through two service projects of their choosing providing an excellent bonding opportunity for Players and Parents while serving those in need.  Third, our Club Chaplain Jonathan Rainey will be leading a monthly “Parent’s Night” which is designed to help all of us build a community across teams within our Club so that you’ll always have someone that you can reach out to help your Player whether on or off the field.  We are our greatest resource.

As you can see, we are truly looking forward to the 2012 baseball season and look forward to serving both Players and Parents in this coming year.  If you have questions or would like to be more involved in helping us build this organization for the benefit of your Player, please email us directly at info@wafcabaseball.org.  We look forward to hearing from you.

Yours truly,

Chris Fedor                            Robin Lau
(Lead GM)                         (Club Director)

15U Gold takes 3rd in National Tournament in Las Vegas.  But that’s not all…

Each year, over 200 “Select” baseball teams from around the country travel to play in one of the most competitive national tournaments in the country, the “Las Vegas Desert Classic”.  Just three weeks ago, our FCA 15U Gold team brought home 3rd place in the 15U division, eventually losing 8-6 to an unbeaten national travelling team from Minnesota.  Congratulations Coach Randy Moore, Coach Mike Siler and the 15U Gold Players for an outstanding performance and leadership on the field.  We are very proud of your accomplishments.

But the story doesn’t end there.  When the 15U Gold FCA team came together in the Summer of 2009 to form one of the charter teams of Washington FCA Baseball, they also formed a very close bond between the families. With its 9 returning original members, 4 second-year additions and only one brand new player, FCA 15U Gold made sure that none of their players were left behind because of the tough economy.  The families within the team all contributed to ensure that every player was able to travel to Las Vegas to compete – paying for airfare, donating hotel rooms and chaperoning those players without their parents on this trip.  Our coaches also made sure all player had plenty of sports drinks, water and eats.  It’s often said that true character is exhibited during difficult moments.  Thank you 15U Gold families for your heart and generosity…your actions speak louder than words.

A Message from our Chaplain

Hello Washington FCA Baseball,

It’s that time of the year again.  I’m excited about what God is going to do with you and through you this year.

Player bible studies are starting up again.  We are going to have a blast this year learning about understanding and how to be like our greatest Coach, Jesus Christ.  This next month we are going to go over “Prayer”.  Prayer is our most powerful resource outside of God’s Word.  A Christian not praying is like a baseball player without a glove and bat.  You have to have it in your life to be effective.  So come ready to learn and ready to have fun with your teammates.

Parents, I’m so looking forward to hanging with you all so we can experience “Grown Up Talk!”  We will have a time of dialogue with several different topics.  This will be a fun time to encourage each other in several areas that affect our lives as adults.  You too come ready to experience authentic fellowship and community.

Our kick-off a couple of weeks ago was really fun and we had a good talk about “communication – what does it mean”, “community – how we can support each other” and how to make our Club so that parents are the core of that community.

I’d like to ask you to tell me what is relevant to you” and “what is important to you” so that we can build a program around you.  Please email me at jonathan@rijoathletics.com or find me on Facebook.

I’m looking forward to serving you.
